World Dance Day Festival Lights Up The Night Sky...

13th May 2010

FRIDAY night was an evening that was enjoyed by many as the Kusadasi Dance and Sports Club showed that they had much more than just dancing talent. From start to finish the entire show was a display of bursting energy and expression of dance from cultures around the world. From heart moving hip hop, to slow, ‘mind capturing’ freestyle, to authentic belly dance, folk dance and hip shaking salsa, the event did indeed travel through a well choreographed world of cultural dancing.

The evening was organised by Ezgi Kayan and Ebru Gunur; both directors of the dance and sports club and they were supported and joined by the Kusadasi Belediye. ‘Belediye President, Ahmet Kirac,’ pulled out all the stops to ensure that the evening was enjoyed by tourists and Kusadasians alike.

Both Club President and Dance Instructor, ‘Zeki Uyanık’ proved that his instruction had produced an array of ‘dance talent variety.’ Putting on a display himself that was most moving and as I looked round at the expressions on the crowds faces it was a united one of ‘sheer awe’. Cuban live music by a native Cuban group was also appreciated by all that attended as the dance show came to a close.

This was a welcome to the opening of the summer season that did not disappoint the crowd and the Belediye handed out white balloons with spark cords attached to everyone there. The event was slowly drawn to an end by lighting all the balloons and releasing them at the same moment in time. This was a moving symbol of peace and culture shared by tourists and residents on the moonlit shoreline of Kusadasi...

The Kusadasi Times would like to extend a special thank you to the Kusadasi Dance & Sports Club for all their hard work in creating such a special event and to the Kusadasi Belediye for all their support, dedication and co-operation.
