Alp Auto Karting Championship
Final Round

The excitement was at fever pitch this Sunday for the final round of the Alp Auto Karting Championship. With all to drive for the teams were psyched up for a thrilling finale in the blistering heat of the sun.
Eager to get action under way the teams nominated driver took to the kart for the qualifying lap.
Tekniker Oto proved to be the fastest, ahead of Pirelli (Alp Oto), Castrol (Kardesler Oto), Petronas (Guven Oto Servis), Nexen and finally Alpler Torna.
The competitiveness was evident from the start as the shunting started immediately as everyone tried to get the best start. The Nexen team not used to being so far back on the starting grid made a bid to move ahead by overtaking Petronas, then on lap 3 overtaking Castrol to move into 3rd.
Early on in the race there was a distinct gap building between the first group of three and the last group of 3. The Alpler Torna driver was determined they were going to have a better finish this time, as he was driving very aggressively, although he kept a smile on his face all the time.
By lap 8 the positions were, Pirelli, Tekniker Oto, Nexen, Castrol, Alpler Torna and Petronas. The latter part of this section was filled with shunting and tussling. No incidents occurred during the driver change. Nexen were able to take advantage of a smooth and quick driver change and moved up to 2nd.
The only major incident in the middle part of the race was the Alpler Torna driver, Omer Anil, crashing into the central buffers and losing a place.
The 2nd driver change went smoothly for all the teams.
As the race entered the final stages the shunting and tussling continued as every driver knew valuable points were at stake.
After an enthralling race it was Pirelli (Alp Oto) who took the chequered flag followed by Nexen, Tekniker Oto, Castrol (Kardesler Oto), Petronas (Guven Oto Servis) and Alpler
Torna.
With the race over and the points tallied this years champions were a very jubilant Nexen team, with 2nd place awarded to Pirelli (Alp Oto), 3rd place to Tekniker Oto, 4th place Castrol (Kardesler Oto), 5th Pertronas, and 6th place Alpler Torna.
A big thank you must be given to Erol Guzel at Ada Karting for his hospitality, Fiak Alp from Alp Oto for his sponsorship and also Amiz Tabak (Baskan of the industrial estate) from the Tekniker Oto team for helping.
Also a thank you and congratulations to all the drivers without whom none of it would have been possible.
That's it for this year, the big boys have to put their toys away and get back to some serious work, but we look forwards to another entertaining championship in 2011.
Don't forget keep up to date with events going on at Ada Karting Park on the Kusadasi Times.
Now I'm off for a cup of tea out of my new Pirelli mug!
